In a lifetime ago I worked for a small company out in the sticks – a funny little industrial unit way out of town a few miles off the nearest bypass. It was idyllic though, we were surrounded by nature, birds, squirrels, farmland. For those of us who were not in a tearing hurry to get anywhere else in the day it was a dream come true. There was the farm next door – in fact our unit was formed from two of their old barns originally.
The only serious drawback to this wonderful existence was not being on the main drains or sewerage network. We had the original farm cesspit system. Thankfully I didn’t get involved in the actual workings, or not, of the system, but I did arrange for environmental engineers to come out occassionally to sort problems. I did handle the ordering of the special sanitary products needed and by golly I was careful to get the right stuff !
