At this very hot time of year we do tend to use a huge amount of water on not very much. It has become obvious to me personally in these last few weeks of extra ordinary and worrying heat, that I waste water and as I’m usually rather careful, this means that others must waste far more than me. To this end, when I need to do any washing up after any meal, small or major, I pop the crocks in the dishwasher – rather than running off gallons of cold water waiting for the hot stuff to emerge. If I put 3 days worth of crocks on, I’m using only one lot of water and they come out so much cleaner and more hygienic than by hand any way. so when I do want to swab down the kitchen work tops, I use extra water in the kettle – and then top my bowl up with cold water. Simples!
