I was assisting at a function in a village hall recently. I used to be actively involved in the same village, regularly attending fund raisers in the very same place. It had dark roughly treated toilet facilities, the least inviting part of the operation. The kitchen wasn’t a great deal better. When village committees are charged with hiring out their meeting halls and venues, there is a lot of work done behind the scenes to ensure guests will be safe, secure and happy at whatever event they attend. It should therefore form part of the contract for any cleaner or site agent that the facilities be cleaned thoroughly before and after every event with adequate janitorial supplies to hand. The kitchens must be hygienic with large well marked bins for recycling and rubbish. The water heater must be put on early enough for the hirer to find useful. A contract with a cleaning agency would work a treat!
